Welcome to Ashé Counselling and Consulting

A soft place to land.

A safe place to begin again.

Fees

Because healing matters – and we believe in being transparent

Therapy is an investment in you (and sometimes in the “we” that is you + your favourite human),  your well-being, your relationships, your ability to function in traffic without losing it.

Individual Counselling

  • $150 for a 1-hour session
  • $210 for longer 1.5/hrs sessions (because sometimes life needs more than 60 minutes)

Couples Counselling

  • $180 for 1.5 hours (more space for both of you to be heard, understood, and maybe to feel like you’re on the same team again.)

Payment is due on the day of your session.

We accept cash, credit cards, Interac, and e-transfers.
You’ll receive a detailed receipt to submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement.

We wish! But in BC, most insurers don’t allow direct billing for RCCs or CCCs (yet!).

So for now, it’s the classic “pay-and-submit” routine. We’ll give you everything you need to get your money back.

Often, yes! Many extended health plans include coverage for counselling with a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) or Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) — which we are.

Here’s how it works:

Pay-and-Submit: You pay us, we email you a receipt with all the magic codes. You upload the receipt to your insurer’s portal. Cha-Ching: They deposit the covered amount back into your account.

Tip: If you’re not sure what your plan covers, call your provider—they can tell you exactly what’s included.

Even if you don’t have insurance, you can still claim counselling expenses under the Medical Expense Tax Credit when filing your taxes. Visit www.cra.gc.ca/medical to learn more
(Pro tip: save your receipts — future you will thank you.)

Sadly, no — not yet! Private counselling with an RCC or CCC isn’t covered by BC’s Medical Services Plan (MSP).

BUT! You may qualify for coverage through other programs, like:

  • Extended health benefits (like work plans or private insurance)
  • FNHA (First Nations Health Authority)
  • ICBC (if you’ve been in a motor vehicle accident)
  • CVAP (for survivors of violence and abuse)

We believe access to meaningful, compassionate mental health support should not be limited by cost. One way Ashé Therapy is able to offer lower-fee services is through counselling provided by a clinical intern.

A clinical intern is a graduate-level counselling student who is in the final stages of their professional training. Interns have already completed extensive academic coursework in psychology and therapeutic approaches and are now deepening their skills through direct client work. They practice under the close supervision of a fully licensed, experienced clinician to ensure that you receive ethical, thoughtful, and high-quality care.

What This Means for You

Choosing to work with an intern can offer several unique benefits:

  • Reduced Fees: Sessions are offered at a significantly lower cost, making counselling more financially accessible.
  • High-Quality, Supervised Care: Interns meet regularly with their supervising clinician to review cases, receive guidance, and ensure you are well supported. You benefit from the insight of both the intern and the supervisor.
  • Thoughtful, Attentive Approach: Interns often bring fresh knowledge, deep curiosity, and a strong commitment to being present, collaborative, and client-centered.
  • Unhurried Space to Grow: Because training emphasizes learning and reflection, interns are able to offer care that is intentional, compassionate, and grounded in current therapeutic practices.
  • A Contribution to the Future of the Profession: By working with an intern, you are helping to train the next generation of counsellors while still receiving meaningful support for yourself.

Is Working with an Intern Right for Me?

Many clients find that working with an intern feels just as supportive and effective as working with a fully registered clinician. If your concerns include stress, life transitions, relationship challenges, emotional regulation, or personal growth, intern counselling can be an excellent option.

All sessions are confidential, respectful, and guided by the same ethical standards as any professional counselling service.

If you are curious, we would be happy to help you determine whether this is a good fit for your needs. Reaching out is simply a first step, there is no pressure, just a chance to explore support that is both meaningful and affordable.

Please reach out. We’re always happy to talk things through
and help you feel informed, supported, and heard.

FAQ's

We’re so glad you’re considering reaching out — it’s not always easy to take that first step, but you’re here, and that matters.

At Ashé Counselling, you’re welcome to book a consultation or a first session to get a feel for things and learn more about how we work. This can be done over the phone, in person, or online — whatever feels most comfortable for you.

We use the JANE app for booking, which you can find by clicking the link at the top right corner of our website — or just click here to book.
If you’d like to connect with a specific counsellor before booking, head over to our “Team” page where you’ll find contact info for all our practitioners.

Still have questions? Feeling unsure? We’d love to hear from you. Give us a call at (250) 580-7468 — we’re always happy to chat and help you find the right fit.

Then you’re exactly where you need to be. Friend, welcome to therapy — not a performance review.

You don’t have to show up with a timeline, a breakthrough, or a well-organized trauma binder. You can just sit, vent, swear or side-eye the whole idea of therapy for a while. That’s cool too.

Just show up as you are. We go at your pace, in your direction. Maybe that means unpacking the past. Maybe it means untangling the present. Other days, you might just need to survive your inbox, your child, or your own inner critic. And maybe it means sitting quietly and wondering where to begin.

We’re warm, welcoming, and unshockable. We meet you wherever you are — with compassion, curiosity, and zero judgment. This is a space where you don’t have to have it together. You just have to be you — wonderful, messy, human you.

We start gently. We meet, talk a bit about what’s bringing you in, and start to get to know each other. We talk about confidentiality and consent. It’s kind of like a first date, minus the pressure and small talk. The focus is on making sure it feels safe, supportive, and like a good fit. No need to “have it all figured out”—that’s what therapy is for.

Totally depends on your needs. Some folks come weekly, others bi-weekly or monthly. Some just need a few sessions to sort something out; others come longer-term to do deeper work. Your counsellor will collaborate with you to find a rhythm that fits your life (and your budget).

Yes. Digging into your inner world can stir things up—like cleaning out a closet you haven’t looked in for years. Things might feel messier before they feel clearer. That’s part of the healing process, and a sign that you are on the right path. Your counsellor will walk with you through it.

Absolutely. We offer a free 20-minute phone or video consultation to help you get a feel for who we are, how we work, and whether we’re a good match for your needs. You can ask us questions, share what’s bringing you in, or just see if we vibe. If it doesn’t feel like a fit, no pressure—we’re happy to refer you to someone else who might be a better match. (No hard feelings. Really.) You can book a free consult here

Yes! As of 2024, counselling therapy is officially a regulated health profession in BC (finally!). This means counsellors will be part of the new College of Counselling Therapists of BC, ensuring high standards of ethics, education, and practice. Until full transition happens, most counsellors are members of professional associations like the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (RCCs) or Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCC).

Good News! If your benefits don’t cover everything (ugh, we know), you can still claim your counselling costs under the Medical Expense Tax Credit at tax time. Visit www.cra.gc.ca/medical medical to learn more.

Ashé Therapy is pleased to provide counselling services for Veterans supported through Veterans Affairs Canada.
If you are a VAC client, we can bill directly to VAC — no upfront payment required.

All we need from you is your K Number, and we’ll take care of the rest.
